The Wonderful Indonesia tourism campaign is gracing buses in Paris, France, from June 1 to July 31 as part of promotions related to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Four open-top buses have been entirely wrapped in images of Indonesian tourist destinations, such as North Sumatra, Central Java, East and West Nusa Tenggara, South Sulawesi, Bali, Raja Ampat in West Papua, Belitung in Bangka Belitung Islands and Banyuwangi in East Java.
According to the Antara news agency, those buses will pass through popular areas and places in Paris, including the Champs-Élysées, the Gare du Nord, the Louvre Museum and the Musée d’Orsay.
This year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, held in France from June 7 to July 7, is considered an effective moment to popularize tourist attractions in Indonesia. Tourism Minister Arief Yahya explained that he wished to carry on with the same strategy that had been implemented during the 2016 Euro Cup in France and the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Arief said such a strategy is beneficial, especially because a lot of soccer enthusiasts have flocked to the venue of the FIFA Women’s World Cup. “The Euro Cup and World Cup are the right moments to promote [Indonesia] because they become the world’s center of attention,” said Arief. “We need to use it [promotional budget] effectively at the right time.”
